Principle and Application of Total Silver Analyzer
Silver is one of the micronutrients in human tissues. Trace amounts of silver are non toxic to humans. The WHO has established a safe level of less than 0.05 ppm for silver and a limit of 0.05 MGL for silver ions in drinking water. Silver kills 650 different pathogens, and unlike antibiotics, silver is an “Equal opportunity destroyer.”. All reports of silver toxicity so far have come from silver salts and silver compounds. If the human body contains too much silver, can produce chronic silver poisoning. Its main manifestations are silvery deposition in the skin, hair and other organs. Principle: in the presence of Sodium lauryl sulfate, silver reacts with 3,5-Br2-PADAP in acetate buffer at ph 4.5-8.5 to form a stable red complex with 1:2 ratio, the absorbance of the complex is proportional to the silver content in the water sample. The silver content in the water sample is calculated by measuring the absorbance of the complex.
